Up to now the only transmission available in the fabulous
Maserati GranTurismo S has been the six-speed automated manual. As some customers prefer conventional self-shifting gearboxes a six-speed automatic version has been announced.
The ZF transmission was first mated to the 433bhp, 4.7-litre V8 in the
Quattroporte GT S, which was launched in
Detroit. As in the four-door, the gearbox incorporates a manual mode in the GranTurismo S that disables kick-down.
Maserati's Skyhook suspension, incorporating adaptive dampers, helps take care of active safety. Passive safety is improved thanks to a new passenger airbag with 'Low Risk' deployment.
Styling changes include new 'mini-skirts' that run under the doors and a new design of 20-inch alloy wheels.
Maserati will officially launch the GranTurismo S Automatic at the
Geneva Motor Show on 3rd March. Full details of specification, prices and the UK launch date will be announced in Geneva.
