Porsche will show off two new cars at the
Geneva Motor Show in March. The new Cayenne Diesel and the latest 911 GT3 will be the main attractions on the company's stand.
As you would expect of the
latest GT3 there is more power and performance. Changes to the spoilers and other aerodynamic aids increase downforce and help 911 spotters identify this as the latest version. Key figures for this model include 429bhp, 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds and 194mph flat out. Porsche has also fitted its PSM stability management system; the first GT3 to be so equipped.
Purists might have choked a little at the announcement of the Cayenne Diesel, but there is little doubt that it will make sense for many customers and Porsche's bottom line. The 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 develops 236bhp and, more importantly, 405lb.ft of torque. The claimed 30.4mpg fuel consumption might not impress supermini drivers but with a 100-litre fuel tank 620-miles between fill-ups should be possible. The only transmission option is Porsche's six-speed Tiptronic S automatic. Other standard features include PSM and Porsche Traction Management to distribute power between front and rear wheels.
The oil-burning Cayenne is available now for £39,404. Expect to pay £81,914 for the 911 GT3 when it goes on sale in the autumn.
