In all but
ST - and soon to be unleashed RS guise - the
Ford Focus looks a tad ordinary. That's a shame, as we all know that Ford's hatch is one of the most enjoyable drives you can have at sensible money. So Ford has added a sports styling kit to the range to create the Focus Zetec S.
It's offered in three- and five-door guise and comes with exactly the same engine line up as the regular Zetec line-up. That includes everything from the willing 1.6-litre petrol unit to the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel choices. The makeover follows the usual route, with new front and rear spoilers, lower sill extensions, larger (17-inch) alloy wheels, aluminium style pedals and 'S' badging on the front wings.
That lot would cost you £1,600 if specified separately, so the £750 Ford is asking for the Zetec S seems pretty reasonable. You might want to stop short of adding the two other optional packs to it though; a Sport pack adds even larger 18-inch alloy wheels and privacy glass for £500 and the WRC pack adds the rather showy chequered-flag style decals and chintzy WRC kick plates on the door openings.
The Focus Zetec S is available now from Ford dealers.
