UK sports car maker, Trident Performance Vehicles, has released details of its diesel-powered, 200mph Iceni model. The company claims its car is capable of 0-60mph in less than four seconds and delivers over 68.9mpg, despite packing a 550bhp 6.6-litre V8.

Provided owners can obtain bio-diesel, they can use it without any invalidation of the warranty or adjustment to the engine. Trident also says it won't affect performance. The claimed fuel economy is achieved through technology called 'torque multiplication'.

Another bold statement made by Trident is that the Iceni can get 2,000 miles to a tank of diesel, making it a true continental grand tourer. Furthermore, the boot has space for luggage and golf clubs.

The Iceni's chassis benefits from a 100-year anti-corrosion guarantee, though the body doesn't need such a guarantee as it's made from composite materials.

Prospective customers can expect to spend about 75,000 on the first versions of the Trident Iceni.
