Ferrari has released further details on the folding metal roof of its new California convertible. The retractable hard top opens or closes in 14 seconds and even when stowed there is still luggage space behind the front seats.
With the roof raised, the California has 360-litres of luggage space in the boot, though this is reduced to 260-litres with the roof lowered. Ferrari says this is the first time the cabin and boot of one of its cars "communicate directly" to give a choice of luggage configurations.
The new Ferrari will have a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This is the first time this type of 'box will be used in a Ferrari and the company claims it reduces gear shift times to virtually zero.
A launch control system will also be included with the California, with 0-62mph covered in just four seconds. Ferrari has also confirmed the 4.3-litre V8 engine's power at 460bhp, and it has revealed the California's combined economy is 21.4mpg and carbon dioxide emissions are 310g/km.
The Ferrari California will be officially unveiled at the
Paris motor show in October.
