| Innovative Roof | 2008 Geneva Motor Show | Rolls-Royce Phantom by Edag |
It's a problem we've had with our Rolls-Royce Phantoms: having to bend down a little to get in and out of the rear cabin. Not any more, though; thanks to Edag's ingenious rising roof section that lets Phantom passengers simply walk in and out of the luxurious rear seats.
The 'gullwing' panel is hinged at the side and opens on hydraulic rams at the touch of a button from the driver or passenger. When the roof rises up, it provides more than enough head room for passengers to get in and out without having to duck.
The roof panel is made from carbon fibre to keep the weight down and Edag has retained all of the original Phantom's rain channel, seals and locking mechanisms. The roof only hinges on the passenger side of the car and a small section of the rear roof remains in place to retain the car's structural integrity.
All of the materials used to finish trimming the lift-up roof section are to Rolls-Royce standards and Edag can carry out the work on any Phantom. As for price, if you have to ask...
