| Special Edition Preview | Bologna Motor Show | Porsche Boxster RS60 Spyder |
We're not sure why Porsche has decided to commemorate its 1960 Type 718 RS 60 Spyder with a limited edition Boxster model that will be unveiled at the
Bologna Motor Show next week, but we're not going to complain when it has 303bhp.
The original 1960 Spyder won races all over Europe and America and now it donates its name to this Boxster. From the outside, the Boxster RS 60 Spyder has a unique front spoiler and 19-inch alloy wheels that have been pushed a little further out to fill the wheelarches and give a more menacing stance.
A modified sports exhaust with twin tailpipes helps release 303bhp from the 3.4-litre 'flat' six-cylinder engine, though Porsche has not released performance figures for the car. However, all RS 60 Spyder models will come with Porsche Active Suspension Management to underline the car's nod to Porsche's racing heritage.
All Boxster RS 60 Spyders will come in GT Silver Metallic paint. There's a choice of red leather interior with red roof or dark grey leather with a black roof. Whichever colour scheme you choose, all cars have an 'RS 60 Spyder' sill protector and the main dials have had the Boxster's usual instrument cowl removed.
Porsche is building 1,960 of these special edition Boxsters, Unfortunately, the price is not set at 1960's levels and you'll have to find £45,000 to buy a Boxster RS 60 Spyder, with deliveries starting in March.
