| New Special Edition | LA Auto Show | Ford Mustang Bullitt |
Ford is set to reveal a film-inspired limited edition version of its popular Mustang at the
LA Auto Show. The new 4.6-litre 315bhp muscle car harks back to the 1968 film Bullitt, with a badge-less front grille and Dark Highland Green colour scheme.
With an uprated chassis and suspension as well as new brakes and 325lb.ft of torque available, this 21st Century 'Stang might have had more than an edge over the original beast. However, despite a few improved dynamics Ford has not forgotten the movie-car's infamous thrumming V8 engine note, and has tuned identical music into the new V8's exhaust system.
Just 7,700 Bullitt Mustangs will be built, with production starting in early 2008. As far as pricing goes, the US will get their mitts on one for $31,075 or as little as £15,000 at today's exchange rate. If you want one bad enough back in the UK though, expect prices to shoot well above £20,000 after shipping and the required conversions for our roads.
