Lamborghini Murcielago Roadsters aren't exactly for shy retiring types, but if you're after the ultimate head-turning example, have a look on eBay today. There you'll find a 2005 model year Lamborghini Roadster finished in chrome. It's being advertised as having a 'celebrity' owner and its numerous magazine and television appearances confirm that to be US rapper 50 Cent.
Obviously he's too busy in the studio or doing whatever rappers do in their spare time to sort out the sale himself, so Autosport Designs Inc (a vintage Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche specialist in New York) is taking care of it. Bidding for this unique Lamborghini currently stands at $227,100, with the reserve not yet met.
Unsurprisingly, chrome bodywork isn't a factory option from Lamborghini, 50 having had the unique finish applied by Alsa Corporation. Despite its appearance, it's not actually chrome either; instead it's a paint finish called 'MirraChrome'. It's applied with conventional spray guns before being 'clearcoated' for protection. Whatever, we still reckon it'd be a real pain to keep smudge free.
Other unique touches to 50's ride include 20-inch wheels, which unlike the car haven't been chromed, instead being painted black. The interior shows remarkable restraint too. No embroidered orange ostrich skin seats here, just plain old black. Given the owner's occupation, it's no shock that the stereo's been given something of an upgrade, though quite what you'd want to be doing listening to music when there's a melodic Lamborghini V12 over your shoulder is anyone's guess.
Here's the auction if you're in the market...
