Right, could we get onto this news piece about this tasty-looking Vanquish, please?

Well, it's a special edition of the Aston flagship. Designed to celebrate 25 years of the Vanquish, which both at once seems like a long time and also not that long ago at all. The nameplate carries such heft that you think it has been around for more than a quarter of a century, is what we're saying, yet here we are.

I still think you're stalling. Could you give me the details on the car?

Fine. It's, in Ronseal fashion, called the Aston Martin Vanquish 25. Just 50 examples of it will be built, split equally between the Coupe and Volante body styles, with buyers then given the option of either a 2+2 or a 2+0 seating configuration within. All examples will be built by Q by Aston Martin, hence the unique colour for the 25 is Q Skye Silver, while it also sports Q Commission metal-foil detailing on the side sills and shield vanes, as well as exhaust finishers from the same arm of the company. Other details include bespoke Aston Martin script-foil detailing, a set of stainless-steel side strakes, model-specific 'Vanquish 25' badging, and some discreet V-spoke-highlighting on the car's 21-inch forged-alloy wheels.

And for the cabin?

The exclusive 'Vanquish 25' emblem is found on the seatbacks, while the pattern of the trim perforations and the colour-splits of the upholstery are unique to the 25. Laser-etched Aston Martin trim inlays and a bright-red start/stop button down on the tunnel are further highlights, as is black Alcantara headlining. The lucky few will also get the choice of Onyx Black, Oxford Tan or Phantom Grey finishes for the upholstery and cabin colours.

Lovely stuff. How about the powertrain and chassis?

Both unchanged from the regular third-gen Aston Martin Vanquish, which means superb handling for a big super-GT like this and also the 835hp, 1,000Nm twin-turbo V12 petrol rated at 5.2 litres up front. The Vanquish 25 can therefore run 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds and go on to 217mph, where such a thing is possible. Or legally appropriate.

Vittorio Gabba, the head of Q at Aston Martin, said of the new special edition: "Anyone familiar with this iconic British brand knows the provenance of the name 'Vanquish' in our modern history.

"Twenty-five years on from the unveiling of the very first Vanquish, it is only right that we mark this nameplate's contribution to our heritage. Vanquish 25 builds on the extraordinary achievements of the modern, third-generation Vanquish with a carefully curated package of exterior and interior features that subtly celebrate this important milestone in our history."

The Aston Martin Vanquish 25 will enjoy its global premiere at the Monterey Car Week event in California, taking place in August. First customer deliveries are slated for Q4 of this year.
