What's all this about?

Aehra, the upstart “ultra-premium” electric carmaker from Milan, has revealed its new four-door saloon. Named Sedan (we wonder how long it took to come up with that), it’s the brand’s second model, following on from the SUV launched at the tail end of 2022.

I haven't heard of them. What have I missed?

Aehra has only been around since 2022, but there’s some top automotive talent in its ranks already, including Lamborghini’s former chief designer, Filippo Perini, and Alessandro Serra, who previously worked alongside Perini at Lamborghini and plied his trade at Genesis.

Investors have a lot of hope for Aehra’s future, too – the company raised tens of millions in funding last year, before a single car had even been unveiled. A strategic roll-out of the company is planned in North America and Europe for 2026, with a further expansion into China and the Gulf States to follow.

So it has the designers, the cash, and another new car?

Indeed. Aehra’s new Sedan is based on the same platform as the SUV and comes with some impressive stats. Thanks to a bespoke battery setup from Miba, both the SUV and Sedan said to have a range of 800 kilometres (almost 500 miles).

Perini’s team have been hard at work on the car’s looks, shunning sharp edges in favour of using reflection and the contrast of light and darkness to sculpt the Sedan’s body. Combined with Aehra’s “soft, simple, uncomplicated design language,” the car features a single “fluid line” running along the side.

“The design of the Aehra Sedan is inspired by numerous sources,” said Perini. “For centuries, Italian architects, artists and designers have been inspired by the pursuit of the perfection of proportion. That passion and discipline are evident in every line and detail of the Aehra Sedan.”

Sounds good. Let's get down to the details...

The Sedan is constructed from ultra-light and sustainable composite materials, including forged carbon fibre – formerly the preserve of the supercar and hypercar segment – while the active aerodynamic and cooling systems are located in the lower section of the car, adhering to the company’s “division” approach when designing its cars. The more technical lower section of the car allows for a top portion that can prioritise form over function, with the bonnet, windscreen and roofline drawing inspiration from aeronautics, resulting in a more streamlined and efficient shape.

Aehra’s engineers have been given plenty of scope for imagination, too. The saloon features double-falcon doors, a setup which can also be found on the SUV. Aehra describe the doors as blending “a stunning visual statement with exceptional practicality to provide effortless ingress and egress.”

So when can I have one on my driveway?

“The first customer deliveries of the Aehra Sedan and Aehra SUV will commence by 2026,” Aehra CEO Hazim Nada has confirmed. “And when the final production variants take to the road, they will look virtually identical to the models we have revealed, ensuring no compromise on our promise to combine and extraordinary driving and ownership experience with exceptional design and technology.”
