What's all this about?

This design sketch is our first glimpse inside the Skoda Vision 7S, a fully electric concept car set to be revealed shortly. Although we’ll have to wait a little longer to see the car in its entirety, we can at least get an impression of how this (and future Skoda models) will look inside, with practicality clearly remaining a priority.

What's going to be so different?

For starters, you can’t miss the child seat that is placed right in the centre of the cabin. According to the Skoda design team, the reason for this is that it is more easily accessible for those in the front and rear of the car, but it also locates it in the safest zone of the vehicle. This setup is possible thanks to the long centre console that runs through to the third row of seats and allows for that most precious cargo to be within easy reach of any of the occupants in the front four seats.

What else is new?

The Skoda Vision 7S previews a new electric seven-seater SUV that is due to arrive in 2026, and besides being battery-powered, it will use more sustainable materials in its construction. Elsewhere in the cabin, there are new fabrics and brighter colours. These will include more recycled plastics that have the visual effect of being peppered with slightly different coloured flecks of plastic, similar to how forged carbon can appear.

Any tech?

The oblong steering wheel contains haptic controls, and it will electrically retract when the car is switched off or charging. At the same time, the seat begins to recline while the large touchscreen display shifts from its standard portrait orientation into a landscape mode, making it ideal for watching your favourite TV show while the car charges. Commenting on the Vision 7S, Oliver Stefani, Head of Skoda Design, said: “The new design language is minimalist, functional and authentic. In the future, we will continue to focus on Skoda’s traditional strengths, such as generous space, easy usability and a high degree of functionality. With our new design language, we are taking the next step and placing even greater emphasis on the customer experience. The great creativity of our designers and engineers is demonstrated through movable interior elements and newly developed Simply Clever features such as an integrated child seat. The deliberately minimalist lines also extend the clear exterior design into the interior.” We’ll see more of the Skoda Vision 7S in the coming weeks as the concept is fully revealed and is set to give a clear view of how future models will look.
