With the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia inbound, it's time for the Czech company to get us all excited ahead of next month's Geneva Motor Show. So here's the one we've been waiting for: it's the Mk4 Octavia vRS iV and, if you've been following Skoda's recent product launches, then you'll know that 'iV' means plug-in electric hybrid vehicle (PHEV), as per the Superb iV. Yep, the Octavia vRS is going part-electric this time around, although the only figure quoted so far about this car by Skoda is its peak output of 245hp - the same as the most high-powered Mk3 vRS. Nevertheless, there should be even more torque to play with and, as Skoda is keen to point out, what you get is a hot hatch that blends 'family-friendly versatility and sports car-like performance with sustainability and efficiency'. So all things to all people, then; a true Octavia, in other words. No numbers for performance or eco-capabilities (including its all-electric driving range, given it's a PHEV) have yet been confirmed for the vRS iV, and nor have precise details on the drivetrain, although we imagine it will be an uprated version of the 1.4-litre-TSI-plus-85kW-e-motor seen in the Superb iV. Dimensionally speaking, the Mk4 vRS has grown when compared to its predecessor, and it features much black detailing, big alloy wheels, lots of diffusers and spoilers, and socking great air intakes. As the three pre-Geneva teaser images also show, there will be both hatchback and estate versions for buyers to go at, as previously was the case in the hot Octavia lineage. Yep, this is one of the cars we're extremely keen to try later in 2020...
