If you've been following the life-cycle of the Lamborghini Huracan, you'll know it launched in 2014 with a 5.2-litre mid-mounted V10 delivering 610hp to all four wheels, in what was known as the LP610-4. A year later, the Italian manufacturer stripped 30hp and the front driveshafts out of this to create the LP580-2. Then, last year, the Huracan went through its midlife updates to become the Evo, a 640hp AWD model. So what do you think we have here? That's right, this is the Huracan Evo Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), which loses 30hp and two driveshafts (sound familiar?) but also 33kg of weight compared to the AWD model. The RWD's performance is bonkers, ripping off 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds and running on to 202mph where legal (and possible), and both the steering and the Performance Traction Control System have been specially calibrated for this 2WD Huracan - the latter to the extent that it is said to 'enhance oversteer by 30 per cent' with the car in Corsa mode, which is nice - with Lambo's CEO Stefano Domenicali adding: "The Huracan Evo RWD puts the car in the driver's hands: the driving experience is delivered by the hardware. This car reminds the driver of Lamborghini's pure engineering origins: the driver is at the centre of the Huracan Evo RWD's performance, with unfiltered feedback and an emotive and more engaging driving experience controlled by the pilot." It also raises the intriguing possibility of there being a 610hp version of the beguiling Audi R8 RWS, to which the Huracan is closely related. Prices for the Evo RWD are around £137,000 excluding retail taxes, and first customer deliveries are due in the spring.
