Here's an unusual one: Ian Callum, who left Jaguar Land Rover earlier this year and created his own independent design consultancy called Callum, has gone back to one of his older works and created a 2019 take on the formula. This is the Aston Martin Vanquish 25 by Callum, in association with the Swiss race team and building specialist R-Reforged. More than 100 detail changes have been made outside, inside and underneath, the headlines being a 10mm suspension drop, 20-inch forged alloys on Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, a 59hp uplift to the 527hp 5.9-litre V12 engine for a peak of 586hp, LED head- and taillights, lots of carbon fibre addenda and a retrimmed interior with a modern eight-inch infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Callum himself said: "It's rare that a designer has the chance to retell the story of one of their own cars. I've wanted to do that for some time and with R-Reforged, we could do something special. Materials and technologies have advanced, allowing us to introduce these along with new ideas that weren't feasible when the car was launched." And the price for all of this? Well, you can have the work done on an existing Vanquish S, or you can get R-Reforged and Callum to source you one... in which case, you're looking at £550,000 plus local taxes.
