We've already seen (and indeed driven) facelifted versions of the regular Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV and its range-topping AMG counterpart, the GLC 63 S; now it's time for the entry-level AMG model to take to the stage. Enter the refreshed-for-2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43. As before, it's available in standard SUV or five-door Coupe guises. The new cars get a subtle-but-effective visual makeover, including redesigned lights front and back, a restyle of the quad exhaust outlets and, most obviously, the latest design of AMG radiator grille. Behind there is a mildly reworked 3.0-litre biturbo V6 petrol engine. Maximum torque is unchanged at 520Nm, but there's 23hp more now, for a peak of 390hp at 5,500-6,000rpm. A nine-speed auto and rear-biased 4Matic four-wheel-drive system means 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, while air springs and adaptive damping pair with AMG Dynamics and a variable ratio power steering system to deliver what the company promises is a good mix of everyday usability and serious performance. Inside, there's a new steering wheel and the same MBUX infotainment system as found in the rest of the GLC line-up.
