What's new?
The name of the awards may have changed from 'International Engine of the Year' to the all-encompassing 'Engine + Powertrain of the Year', but it seems everything else is as it was, including Ferrari taking the top prize, for an incredible fourth year in a row. The winning engine is the Italian company's scintillating twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8, as found in the middle of the 488 Pista, for example.
Honourable mention should go to Jaguar for the electric powertrain used in the I-Pace, as it topped three individual categories before being voted into second place overall, the only electric system in the final six, a group that are otherwise made up entirely of turbocharged petrol engines.
