What's all this about?

So, we had the Lamborghini Huracan Evo, which used the 640hp/600Nm engine from the Performante to create a more focused, 'regular' Huracan. Well, now the Evo formula has been applied to the open-topped Huracan Spyder.

And how quick is it?

Weighing 120kg more than the Coupe at 1,42kg all-in, the Evo Spyder is not quite as blisteringly fast as its hard-topped sibling... but it's still ferociously quick in the grand scheme of things. It'll check off the 0-62mph sprint in 3.1 seconds (+0.2s compared to the Coupe) and 0-124mph in 9.3 seconds (three-tenths behind the hard-top Evo), while running on to a top speed of 202mph given its head; the Coupe goes 'in excess' of that. It also takes an extra 30cm to stop the Evo Spyder from 62mph to a complete rest than the Coupe, but at 32.2 metres it still has brutal brakes.

What about the rest of the car?

Again, like the Evo Coupe, the Spyder has four-wheel steering and the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) adaptive logic central processing unit, that controls every aspect of the car's dynamic behaviour. This includes magnetorheological dampers, the four-wheel torque vectoring, the yaw, pitch and roll monitoring... everything, basically. Downforce is also said to be five times greater than on the original Huracan Spyder, thanks to revised, incredibly aerodynamic bodywork. The big change for the Spyder, of course, is that it has a roof which can be raised or lowered electrically in 17 seconds, even on the move at speeds of up to 31mph.

How much is all this going to cost?

Following its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder will be on sale for a UK price, excluding taxes, of £181,781. That's a £16,525 premium over the Huracan Evo Coupe.

Anything else?

Stefano Domenicali, chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said: "The Huracan Evo Spyder incorporates all the performance, next-generation vehicle control and aerodynamic features of the Evo Coupe, with its own unique personality and a driving excitement that only an open-top car can offer. The Spyder continues the Huracan Evo's evolutionary charge: extremely easy to drive while excelling as a highly responsive, fun super sports car. Particularly with the roof open, the emotive sound of the naturally aspirated engine and the refined, lightweight exhaust system take the sensory experience to a new level. The Huracan Evo Spyder's design, performance and exhilarating open-air drive experience is literally breath-taking."

Lamborghini Revuelto revealed
The new Revuelto drops the huge V12 in favour of a huge V12… with a hybrid system. Somehow we don’t think the ecological acclaim will roll in, but it might be a cracking supercar.
