What's all this about?
Aston Martin is going to launch a track-experience programme throughout 2019, which will allow owners of the British sports cars to enjoy expert tuition from the AMR Drivers' Club on some of the world's leading circuits. There will be three levels of track experience, which are AMR Experience, AMR Academy and AMR GT Academy, with prices ranging from £750 to £7,600.
OK, can we start with AMR Experience?
We sure can. This in itself is split into two levels: the first is Discovery, where there is one-to-one tuition behind the wheel of Aston's products with a dedicated instructor from the company. This then steps up to Performance, allowing owners the opportunity to stretch their Aston's legs on the track, with the additional option of a dedicated instructor to provide appropriate guidance.
Right, and what about AMR Academy?
Drivers will get to train with professional Aston Martin instructors and experience the latest Aston models, working for Level 1 to Level 3 for one-and-a-half days at each level. As their track capabilities develop, then the customer progresses to the next level, until...
...they're ready for AMR GT Academy?
Got it in one. And this allows them one-and-a-half days of one-to-one tuition in a race-prepared GT4 Aston Martin, this level forming a starting platform for those customers who are working towards getting a racing licence.
Which tracks are involved throughout 2019?
Aston says 'nine significant race circuits' will be part of the programme, with the first on the calendar being the Algarve International Circuit (otherwise known as Portimao) on March 19/20. Other confirmed venues include Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium (date tbc), Silverstone on September 4/5 and Barcelona Circuit (aka Catalunya) on September 16/17.
Any words from Aston as to why this has come about?
Yes, let's go over to Sebastien Delmaire, director of Aston Martin Partnerships, who said: "Our customers have been enquiring about this type of programme for a while now so we are delighted to be able to offer such a strong and structured package of experiences. From the customer who would like to know what his or her Aston Martin is capable of, from the manufacturer who designed and built their car, to those wishing to hone their track skills with future ambitions of racing, we have it covered."
