What's all this about?

Remember this story? About a couple of Aston Martins that would cost in the region of 6 million, excluding taxes? Called the DBZ Centenary Collection, to celebrate 100 years of Italian coachbuilder Zagato, with which Aston has had a long and storied history?

Vaguely. What's the latest on it?

We've got our first glimpse of the second part of this pair of hyper-rare, hyper-pricey Astons. It's called the Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato and it's based on the mighty DBS Superleggera.

Ooh, exciting! Have we got any technical details on it?

Not at this stage, no. In essence, you're just getting a flavour of what this car will look like. Bear in mind only 19 will be built, one each to go with each of the 19 DB4 GT Zagato Continuations that have already been confirmed, and that the DBZ Centenary Collection will be delivered in a two-stage process to the lucky customers who have got one of these gorgeous car-bundles: the DB4 will land in the final quarter of this year, while the DBS GT Zagato will arrive one year later, at the tail end of 2020. What we can ascertain from this image is that the DBS GT Zagato will have the characteristic double-bubble roof, a feature that will continue down onto its bonnet, a wraparound front windscreen and its own design of alloy wheels, headlamps and front grille. Should be a tasty thing, once it's revealed.

Any words from Aston Martin at this point?

Yes, Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Lagonda's executive vice-president and chief creative officer, said of the DBZ Centenary Collection: "In the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation, we have one of the world's most beautiful and instantly recognisable pieces of car design. Creating a car fit to stand alongside it was always going to be a formidable challenge, but also a great motivation. Both design teams at Aston Martin and Zagato have together risen to the task magnificently; taking the already fabulous DBS Superleggera and shaping something which retains its identity as an Aston Martin, but expresses itself as only a Zagato can. Sensational-looking and extremely rare, it is the modern incarnation of a timeless icon."
