What's this about?
Aston Martin is designing a submarine.
*checks calendar to see if it's April 1st* Seriously?
Yep. This is a project for Aston Martin Consulting, the same spinoff that lead to the Aston speedboat last year. This time Aston is teaming up with Triton, a well-known personal submarine maker, for Project Neptune (seriously, that's what they're calling it). It'll be based on Triton's low-line three-person submersible, and will feature Aston-style design and luxury elements.
This is seriously a thing?
Yep. It will even be worked on my Aston Martin's Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman. He and his team have transformed Triton's compact LP platform, using their own sense of Aston style. "Project Neptune is defined by its sleek, elegant exterior," says Reichman, "we have used forms and proportions that express the same devotion to design, engineering and beauty that shape our cars, such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar project."
Patrick Lahey, President of Triton Submarines LLC said: "We have always admired Aston Martin. The marque represents a deeply held passion for technology, engineering and timeless, elegant design. From our first interaction, it was apparent that Triton and Aston Martin were natural partners and our complimentary values will be realised in this truly exciting project."
Aston Martin Consulting Managing Director, Bradley Yorke-Biggs said: "Project Neptune is a flagship project for Aston Martin Consulting. It is a clear and engaging demonstration of how Aston Martin's expertise in sports car design and craftsmanship can be extended into new aspects of the luxury world."
How much is this all going to cost?
*strokes white cat* It will cost you your life, Meeeester Bond. Mwu-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Pardon?
Sorry. Came over a bit funny there. All this talk of personal submarines. We have no idea how much it'll be, but 'a lot' is a good estimate as it'll be very limited in production numbers.
