What's all this about?

Skoda will start taking orders for the Kodiaq SUV this November with prices from 21,495. Customers can choose between S, SE, SE L and Edition grades with a choice of petrol or diesel power. First deliveries are due in April 2017.

What do you get for the money?

Entry-level S models come with 17-inch alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system and air-conditioning. Only one engine is available, the 1.4-litre 125hp TSI petrol unit.
The SE is available from 22,945; look out for larger 18-inch alloys, sunset glass and rear parking sensors to identify this model. Extra equipment includes dual zone climate control, upgraded infotainment system and cruise control. Seven seats are a 1,000 option with SE trim.
SE L models come with seven seats as standard, along with Columbus navigation, Wi-Fi and a powered tailgate. Full LED headlamps and 19-inch wheels are also part of the package which is available from 28, 595.
Top of the range is the Edition (30,695) with leather upholstery covering its seven seats. It also gets metallic paint and chrome roof rails. This model also features Lane Assist, High Beam Assist, wireless charging and phone box.

How about the mechanicals?

At launch customers can choose between three petrol and two diesel engines. The 1.4 TSI is available in 125 and 150hp outputs; there is also a 2.0TSI with 180hp. Diesel power is available in 150 or 190hp versions; a 115hp diesel will join the range later. Both 150hp motors can be specified with all-wheel drive and manual or DSG automatic transmission, the DSG is also available with front-wheel drive. The most powerful petrol and diesel engines come only with seven-speed DSG transmission and all-wheel drive.
