What's all this then?
Ever get half way along the school run and realise you've left someone's bag or musical instrument behind? Well, Land Rover, and the new Discovery Sport, may just have the cure for that. The seven-seat SUV now comes with full integration for the 'Tile' app. Tile makes little stick-on Bluetooth patches that can be stuck to the stuff you need - sunglasses cases, school bags, sports kit and so on. Because it's integrated in the car, the Discovery can then scan for the needed items when you sit in and alert you if anything's missing. It can also tell the Tiles to sound a beeping alarm to help you find them if the kids have dropped something important down a crevice.
Jaguar Land Rover is the first car maker to use the technology and Mike Farley, CEO of Tile, said, "We're really excited to be partnering with Jaguar Land Rover. We believe this integration will provide many benefits such as improved assurance and peace of mind about the whereabouts of essential items, helping drivers save time before they embark on journeys. Having increased the number of Tiles in circulation from two million to over five million in the last six months alone, we are confident of the extensive advantages this will bring to Jaguar Land Rover customers globally."
Peter Virk, Jaguar Land Rover's Director of Connected Technologies & Apps, said: "Losing your wallet or leaving your child's sports kit behind isn't just an inconvenience. The realisation you've mislaid something important can be a cause of distraction. Our unique partnership with Tile means customers can check the status of tagged items using Discovery Sport's touchscreen, so forgotten items will be a thing of the past."
The rest of the Discovery Sport's makeover consists of a new Graphite Pack with a dark finish for the grille, mirrors and trim and a grey-contrast roof. Plus there are new colours for the exterior (Silicon Silver, Farallon Black, Carpathian Grey and Aruba metallic finishes) and the cabin now comes with the 10-inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment screen.
There are also some new safety toys including a driver drowsiness monitor, an intelligent speed limiter that monitors roadside signs and prompts you to activate the limiter and an active lane keeping assistant that nudges the steering to keep you going straight.
You can order the updated Discovery Sport now and prices start from £31,095.
