2016-05-30: Incoming: Jaguar F-Type SVR

What's all this about?

As we reported recently, for those of you crazy enough to think the 550hp Jaguar F-Type R isn't mental enough, then the first-ever SVR-branded Jag - and only the second Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) product to wear the three letters that stand for mega-performance - will be what you're after. And now we know how much it will cost.

Go on then, what's the damage?

The F-Type SVR will set you back £110,000 for the Coupé and £115,485 for the Convertible, excluding options.

Ouch! Can you just recap some of the salient highlights?

Of course we can. This all-wheel drive monster has an extra 25hp over the R, meaning 575hp and a gigantic 700Nm. That makes the hard-topped SVR a bona fide 200mph missile, while the Convertible is no slouch at 195mph flat out, and either of them scorch from 0-62mph in a trifling 3.7 seconds. Compared to an AWD R Coupé, the SVR is also at least 25kg lighter, although start getting busy with the costly carbon fibre options - such as brakes, a roof panel and various bits of trim - and your SVR will be 50kg lighter. And so will your wallet.

Does it look different?

Just glance at the pictures. It's got a fully aero-optimised lower body kit, while SVR badging and an SVR-specific interior make it feel a cut above the already superb F-Type R. So if you've got the cash, then the newcomer is worth the outlay. Well, probably. Honestly, the R is pretty stunning, but...

When will the first cars be on the road?

Lucky customers will be behind the wheel of the fastest F-Type yet from summer of this year.
