It's about madness. Actually, it's a PR stunt to show off just how capable the Range Rover Sport SVR, the 550hp performance powerhouse, is when it's off-tarmac. So, naturally, the way to do that is to get a polar explorer to drive one around a replica of the Silverstone GP circuit that's carved into a frozen lake.
I'm sorry... what?
Ben Saunders, a man who's been to both poles of the planet, was just outside the Arctic Circle at the oft-used automotive testing facility at Arjeplog, Sweden, where the Land Rover team created a full-size copy of Silverstone on Lake Udjaur. Minna Sillankorva, Land Rover Experience Instructor and former rally champion, was on hand to show Ben how to drive a two-tonne-plus SUV with the same power as a Nissan GT-R on ice and then it was 'off you go' for Mr Saunders.
And why?
Well, it perfectly shows off how the SVR deals with freezing conditions, eh?
