What's all this about?
The Smart Fortwo Cabrio arrives in the UK early next year with prices starting at £13,265. Featuring an electrically operated fabric roof the soft-top city car comes with a choice of two engines and three trim levels - passion, prime and proxy.
What do you get for your money?
As standard the Cabrio roof comes in black cloth, with a red option available for £115. Customers can also choose a compact wind deflector for £59.
Engine choice is between two turbocharged units, with 71- or 90hp. From the spring both motors will be available with a five-speed manual gearbox. The other transmission option is a six-speed, dual-clutch automatic that costs an extra £996. For the 71hp Fortwo Cabrio, CO2 emissions are identical for both transmissions at 99g/km with up to 65.7mpg possible on the combined cycle.
Trim levels match other Smart models; 'passion' comes with 15-inch, eight-spoke alloy wheels, climate control and a choice of orange and black or grey and black interior trim. There is also a smart audio system with Bluetooth connectivity.
Prime models get black alloys with a five-twin-spoke design. Inside there is black leather with grey stitching, heated seats and additional pod-mounted instruments including a rev counter.
Black alloy wheels are part of the 'proxy' trim; 16-inch, eight-spoke items along with lowered suspension that is part of the Sports Package, which comes as standard on this grade. Other items of note include blue and white Artico and cloth upholstery, leather multi-function steering wheel and rubber-studded brushed steel pedals.
Proxy and prime versions are both priced at £695 over the passion model.
