UK-built Infiniti Q30 Premium Active Concept is small, luxurious crossover.
This is Infiniti's Q30 Premium Active Concept (PAC), a vehicle designed to take on the likes of the Lexus CT 200h, BMW 1 Series, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A3. And, as you can probably tell from its build and stance, it's much more of a crossover than any of those vehicles. So perhaps we should be saying Lexus NX, BMW X1, Mercedes GLA and Audi Q3 instead.
Right, so it has four-wheel drive, then?
At this stage, we're not sure about the Q30's mechanicals. All we have are some bold claims from Infiniti about it being developed for 'customers seeking urban individuality', as well as promising a 'dynamic drive, responsive performance and excellent ride and handling'.
Why are we seeing it now?
The Q30 PAC will have its full debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Its debut there comes precisely two years after the Q30 Concept was shown at the 2013 edition of the same event.
Is it just me that thinks there's more than a passing resemblance to competitor cars?
Erm, no. Handsome though the Q30 PAC undoubtedly is, we're seeing bits of the Lexus NX, Mazda CX-5 and a few other things in its appearance.
Any reason why I should buy this over, say, a Mercedes-Benz GLA?
The Q30 has been developed and tested in Europe and it will be built in Sunderland - technically making this a British car.
