Didn't you have a story about this only a few days ago?

We're glad you're paying attention... Yes, Jaguar allowed us reveal the new XF saloon in all its glory last week with a few choice morsels of information, but now we've been given full technical details and even pricing for the launch models.

So how much is it?

The new Jaguar XF starts at £32,300 on-the-road, which is a step up from the previous car's sub-£30,000 starting price, but the new model appears to be a considerably better car in every way - plus it comes with more equipment. There's a new range layout too, starting with the Prestige model, via the sporty looking R-Sport and onto the luxurious range-topper, the Portfolio.

The 'S' specification stands alone from those and is available powered by either petrol or turbodiesel 3.0-litre V6s. The former is the familiar (and much-loved) supercharged 380hp unit employed to such good effect in the Jaguar F-Type, while the diesel is Jaguar's refined V6, now producing 300hp and 700Nm of torque. Both these cars come with an eight-speed automatic as standard and are priced identically at £49,950.

Remind me what the big seller will be.

That'd be the XF 2.0d, in either 163- or 180hp states of tune thanks to Jaguar's new range of Ingenium engines. Both are offered with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, though the auto is available across the range. Emissions are impressively as low as 104g/km, with economy of 71.7mpg, though even the most profligate XF 2.0d emits only 114g/km, so this should be a winner with company car buyers with an eye on BIK rates.

And how has Jaguar done that?

You best watch the video below.

Interesting stuff. Audi and BMW should have a fight on their hands. When can I buy one?

Jaguar dealers have already opened the order book and first deliveries are expected later in 2015.
