What's all this about?
We knew Aston Martin was going to revive the Lagonda badge on a hugely luxurious super saloon - well, now we know the name of said car.
Which is?
Taraf, an Arabic word meaning 'ultimate luxury'. But that's not the best news.
Stop toying with me - what is the best news?
Originally, Aston said Lagonda would be exclusive to the Middle East. But due to 'extremely high' levels of worldwide demand - presumably from rich folk in non-Arabic countries who've had their noses put out of joint by being so rudely excluded from the party - the company's new CEO, Andy Palmer, has admitted it is evaluating other markets for the Taraf.
Surely it wouldn't keep an Arabian badge in other countries?
No, it's highly likely it would be renamed if Aston does decide to spread its Lagonda net.
What's the Taraf's specification?
Unconfirmed at this stage, but we do know it will be built on the VH aluminium chassis architecture, its bodywork (taking inspiration from the 1976 William Towns Lagonda) uses a lot of carbon fibre and it will be hand-made in the same factory that was responsible for the One-77 hypercar. Running gear is also likely to be the 6.0-litre V12 with rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Figures should be in the region of 0-62mph in about four seconds and a top speed around 200mph.
And the price?
On invitation at this stage. Basically, if you have to ask, you can't afford...
