The updated Volkswagen Passat was unveiled at the
Paris Motor Show at the start of the month. The first cars will be delivered in January and it is available to order now with the 1.4 TSI saloon costing £18,470.52.
Along with the 1.4 there are 1.8- and 2.0-litre petrol engines or 1.6- and 2.0-litre turbodiesels, with a choice of 138- or 168bhp outputs from the 2.0-litre. All diesels are badged as BlueMotion Technology products with stop-start and battery regeneration.
The Passat is offered in three trim levels: S, SE and Sport. All models get iPod connectivity and a leather, multi-function steering wheel. The SE comes with eight-speaker digital radio, Bluetooth and a driver fatigue detection system. Touch-screen satellite navigation is fitted to the top, Sport version.
Volkswagen expects the £21,562.40 Passat SE 2.0 TDI with 138bhp to be the most popular variant. Estate versions command a £1,273.23 premium over the equivalent saloon and are expected to outsell the saloon by a small margin.
