German tuning company Hamann Motorsport has been enhancing cars for over 25 years; and it has now launched its new programme to customise BMW's latest M5. Both interior and exterior features have been altered, as have performance and power figures.
Externally, the Hamann M5 boasts a new front bumper - complete with LED daytime running lights. Coupled with the new rear bumper, front and rear-end lift is said to be reduced. Other aerodynamic additions including the carbon fibre roof and rear spoilers to help increase downforce over the standard model. More carbon fibre is splashed across the body on the door-pulls, wing mirrors and side grilles.
Flared 25mm front and 30mm rear wheelarches are also added, and within those arches Hamann have bolted on ultra-light 'UNIQUE FORGED II' 21-inch alloy wheels - to the benefit of the centre of gravity, acceleration and braking responses - according to Hamann.
For the interior, Hamann has gone back to the drawing board with a vision to create 'a VIP lounge with motorsports flair.' As such, a higher grade of leather has been used throughout the car, with branded seats and aluminium pedals replacing the standard items. Each handmade interior is designed individually, with buyers having options ranging from piano lacquer, leather or Alcantara finishes, to customising their own floor mats.
Performance upgrades for the Hamann M5 are still in their development stages; although the company has said that enhancements will include a new engine management system, as well as a high-performance exhaust. Hamann suggests that the resulting power and torque increases will be 160hp and 220Nm.
