Porsche is celebrating 40 years of the 911 Carrera RS at Techno Classica Essen (21-25 March). The company's stand also presents the range of parts and services available to owners of classic Porsches.
For 2012 the stand is twice the size of last year and features two racing Carreras from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. The 1973 911 Carrera RSR, with a 330hp flat-six, is joined by the 1974 911 Carrera RSR Turbo. The forced-induction Carrera sports distinctive flared wheel arches and its 2.1-litre engine develops 500hp.
Completing the RS line up is a road-going Carrera 2.7 RS, which has been restored by the Porsche Classic workshop specialists. An early 911, currently undergoing restoration, is also on display.
Visitors to the stand will be able to get advice on the preservation and maintenance of their classic car. Porsche Classic staff can advise on the availability of original spare parts. For example, the bonnet badge for the 1965-73 Porsche 911 - unavailable since 1974 - has been re-released.
The current Porsche range is represented by a 991-series 911 Carrera to show the customisation options available from the factory.
