This is the Renault Arkana, a C-segment coupe-crossover that combines the 'elegance of a saloon with the sturdiness of an SUV', says the manufacturer. It has been revealed at the Moscow Motor Show, mainly because that's the first market that will take this high-riding coupe in 2019 - it will be built and marketed in further global locations, such as Asia, but there are no plans for it to come to Europe... yet. With a sloping roofline, panoramic glass up top, plenty of chrome detailing, 19-inch alloys and decent ground clearance, the Arkana takes clear styling cues from other Renault products and would certainly find buyers in the UK, giving our propensity for trying out coupe-SUVs, a controversial niche in the motoring market. Groupe Renault wants to sell five million units per annum by 2022 (all cars, not just the Arkana!), in a plan it calls 'Drive The Future', and the Arkana is crucial to the success of the programme. Laurens Van den Acker, senior vice-president for Groupe Renault's Corporate Design, said: "The Arkana show car is a distinctive coupe-crossover, striking balance between the elegance of a saloon and the powerful stance of an SUV. We have dialled in specific Renault cues, with a strong design, strength and sensuality with a French touch."
