GPRM has confirmed that it will be shaking down its entry-level GT86 GT4 endurance racer later this month at an undisclosed UK circuit ahead of European track testing. The GT4 was inspired by the GT86's success at the BritCar24 last September and although it is not an official works model the racer is getting full technical support from Toyota GB.
The new racer is powered by a 2.0-litre, direct injection, turbocharged boxer unit built in conjunction with Nicholson McLaren Engines. The team at GPRM say that the racer should produce somewhere in the region of 360-400hp. However, official power output figures won't be available until the GT4 has undergone balance of performance tests, which are to be set up by GT4 series organiser, SRO.
At this stage, the new model is looking to be a sound investment for GPRM, as the company already has an order placed. "We have gone all out to engineer quality and reliability into the GT86 as well as competitiveness, and the result has provoked a lot of interest from all around Europe," comments Gary Blackham, Director at GPRM.
We have also been told that discussions have taken place with another team who are keen to use the racer in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship.
