Prices and specification for the Nissan Qashqai rivalling Subaru XV have been announced with the new crossover starting at £21,295 for the 1.6i S model, rising to £29,995 for the range-topping 2.0D SE Lux Premium.
In total eleven variations of the XV, across three engines, three specifications and two transmissions, will be offered and all will feature Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive system and boxer engines. The XV is also certified as the safest vehicle in its class, boasting a five-star Euro NCAP rating with a commendation for child occupant safety.
The XV's engine line-up consists of two petrol units - a 114hp 1.6 and a 150hp 2.0-litre - along with a 147hp 2.0-litre diesel. A choice of either a five- or six-speed manual transmission is available across the range with the petrol powered cars also available with the six-speed LinearTronic CVT automatic gearbox. Subaru quotes fuel economy of 50.4mpg and emissions of 146g/km for the diesel XV.
Equipment-wise the entry level S model boasts 17-inch alloy wheels, traction control, Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control (SVDC), a full complement of airbags, LED daytime running lights and air conditioning as standard. SE specification adds cruise control, rear-view camera and Bluetooth/USB/iPod connectivity. Top-of-the-range SE Lux Premium models come with a sunroof, Keyless Smart Entry, push-button start, leather seats and satellite navigation.
