The final production versions of the Subaru BRZ and its sister the Toyota FT-86 are expected to be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in December, but Subaru will somehow manage to roll out one final concept version of the car before then.
Sporting trademark WR Blue Pearl, upgraded suspension components, Brembo brakes and (disappointingly not gold Speedline) 18-inch wheels the BRZ Concept STI will debut at the LA Auto Show taking place between November 16-27. Said to show what the BRZ could look like should Subaru's tuning division get its hands on the rear-wheel drive coupé, the STI Concept will wear an aggressive body kit, carbon fibre roof and a large rear spoiler befitting Subaru's first ever rear-wheel drive model.
Or at least that is what Subaru tell us anyway - in reality an agreement exists between Subaru and Toyota that neither will reveal a car that bears production ready body panels before the grand unveiling of both cars in Tokyo. Slapping a body kit and an oversized spoiler on is a good way of getting around the agreement. Subaru needed to do something though as while various concepts of the Toyota FT-86 have been seen at every show the LA Auto Show will actually be the first time we get to see the Subaru BRZ in the metal.
