Subaru has promised generous levels of standard equipment for the BRZ when it goes on sale in the spring.
The top specification model will be the first to hit the showrooms. This comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, torque-sensing limited slip differential (LSD) and Subaru's Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC). Safety equipment includes front, side, curtain and knee airbags.
Later this year a lower-spec model will be available as well as a 'stripped out' version. The basic BRZ is expected to appeal to track-day enthusiasts and customers who want to modify their car.
The BRZ, like all new Subarus, comes with the company's three year 'Everything Taken Care of' (ETCo) aftercare package. Eleven aspects of ownership are covered including minor dent and scratch repair, an annual full valet and an annual wheel alignment check.
Prices are still to be announced but the Subaru is expected to cost slightly more than the £24,995 Toyota is asking for the related GT 86.
The Subaru BRZ makes its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6th.
