What is it?
The CX-5 is the first production car to display Mazda’s new ‘KODO - Soul of Motion’ design language. The compact crossover SUV promises to bring Mazda’s hallmark fun-to-drive attributes to a new segment.
Why's it here?
Three pronged really - as well as being a brand new car in itself the CX-5 also displays the Japanese company’s new design direction, in addition to showcasing the Skyactiv engine technology that will be available as either a 2.0-litre direct-injection petrol engine with 162bhp/155lb.ft or a 2.2-litre diesel with outputs of 148bhp/280lb.ft or 172bhp/310lb.ft.
Show stopper or floor filler?
The Mazda CX-5 itself is probably not enough to stop a crowd dead in its tracks but Skyactic engines push it one step closer.
