A bit like Elvis, the current 911 has had more farewells than we can remember, but Porsche has said the latest GT3 Cup is the last of this generation. Really. Honest.
As final flings go, the 911 GT3 Cup is a good one and comes with a new race exhaust to allow the 450bhp 4.0-litre engine to breathe more efficiently. There are also new 18-inch alloy wheels with Michelin racing tyres and the option of carbon ceramic brakes that cut weight by 20kg.
A new 100-litre fuel tank is now fitted, which allows the GT3 Cup to compete in a greater number of race series, and there's a fuel filler accessed through an opening in the bonnet for quicker refuelling.
Inside, the revised GT3 Cup has buttons for the information display on the steering wheel to make it easy for the driver to toggle between screens.
The 911 GT3 Cup is the world's most successful racing car and more than 2,200 have been sold worldwide. This latest version is eligible for various race series throughout 2012 and 2013.
