The BMW 328 model can trace its history all the way back to 75 years ago and the original 328 sports car. To mark the occasion, BMW has come up with a one-off concept car that it will show off at the prestigious Villa d'Este Concours in Italy.
Called the BMW 328 Hommage, the concept takes its inspiration from the original, which was a pared down road racer that still holds the highest average speed around the route of the Mille Miglia race in Italy.
A 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine powers the concept, though BMW has not mentioned performance figures for the car. Light weight is guaranteed by extensive use of carbon fibre for the structure and bodywork. The bodywork has exposed carbon fibre where the weave of the material is visible rather than being covered by paint.
Styling for the 328 Hommage is based on the original 328, but there are also elements from BMW's recent concept car, the Vision ConnectedDrive, that was shown at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
