Ford has introduced a range of revised engines to the Mondeo that offer up to 20 per cent improved emissions. There are also new more powerful motors at the top of the range with up 236bhp on offer.
The 1.6-litre TDCi turbodiesel comes with 114bhp and has stop-start to help save fuel and emissions by switching off the engine when the car is not moving.
Ford calls it 'Auto Start-Stop' and it helps the 1.6-litre turbodiesel Mondeo emit just 114g/km of carbon dioxide, making it more attractive to company car buyers worried about their Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax payments.
The 158bhp 1.6-litre Ecoboost petrol engine also now features Auto Start-Stop to provide emissions of 149g/km while delivering 44.1mpg. The diesel 1.6 offers 65.7mpg average economy.
At the other end of the scale, Ford has introduced a new 197bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel to the Mondeo range, which is only available in Titanium trim. It gives 47.1mpg combined economy and is available with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
These engines are offered in the Mondeo hatch and estate.
