As part of its centenary celebrations Alfa Romeo will be one of the featured marques at the 60th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California. This year's event takes place on Sunday August 15.
Seven cars from the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese, Italy, will join the privately entered Alfas on the 18th Fairway of the Pebble Beach Golf Links. Oldest of those is the 1910 ALFA 24 HP, an example of the company's first car.
Other vehicles from the collection include the 1923 RL Targa Florio, the first car to wear the Alfa Cloverleaf insignia; the 1938 8C 2900B Lungo, which won the final Mille Miglia in 1947; and the 1952 1900 'Disco Volante' (Italian for Flying Saucer) spider. Two more important racing cars heading to California are the 1931 Grand Premo Tipo A and the 1934 Tipo B aerodinamica.
This year marks 60 years since the first ever Formula One World Championship race, as well as being the 60th anniversary of the Pebble Beach Concours. Appropriately enough it was the Alfa Romeo Tipo 158 Alfetta that took first, second and third places in that race. Naturally, the Alfetta will also be present on the fairway.
