Toyota UK has today (July 29) announced a recall for hundreds of its previous generation Land Cruiser Amazons. The recall has been confirmed with Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).
The recall is necessary to remedy a snapped ring bracket within the steering mechanism. There have been only two reported incidents in Europe and no reported accidents due to the fault.
The recall will affect 348 models of the Land Cruiser Amazon - sold in the UK only - which were built between July 2002 and September 2006. It is believed that a similar model from Lexus, the LX 470, not sold in the UK, will also be subject to a recall.
Owners will be contacted by Toyota directly and asked to take their vehicles to a Toyota service centre, where the affected parts will be replaced at no cost to the owner.
Drivers can find out if their vehicle is involved in the recall by entering their VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the Toyota website,
www.toyota.co.uk.
Toyota customers who have any concerns should contact their local dealer or the Toyota Customer Relations team on 01737 367600.
