To celebrate 200 years in business, Peugeot has announced a 200bhp version of the 308 hatchback, due to go on sale later this month (July).
Peugeot will use the 200bhp 1.6-litre THP turbocharged petrol engine from the RCZ coupé. Acceleration from 0-62mph takes 7.7 seconds and top speed is 140mph. The Peugeot 308 GT returns 40.8mpg on the combined cycle and boasts CO2 of 159g/km. A six-speed manual transmission is standard.
On the outside, the GT features a revised front bumper, black rear 'diffuser' and twin chrome exhaust pipes. Inside features sports seats, aluminium pedals, footrest and gear lever knob, leather steering wheel and a black lacquer fascia front panel. Safety features include ABS, EBFD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) and six 'smart' airbags. The maximum of five stars was achieved in the Euro NCAP test rating in 2009 for the 308.
The Peugeot 308 GT THP 200 will cost £21,995 and is available in six body colours. As a bonus, buyers taking delivery of the new model in July will receive a Nokia 5230 smartphone with satellite navigation for free.
