Volkswagen's Golf Plus will be displayed in bigger-bumper-ed, contrasting-roofbarr-ed CrossGolf form at the
Geneva Motor Show. The CrossGolf is the firm's latest attempt at genre-twisting, mixing up its forgettable Golf Plus with some off-road styling. There's no word of four-wheel drive underpinnings, but there's a 20mm greater ride height so you've deeper to dig out should you venture anywhere remotely challenging off road in it.
No, this one's for those who like the more outdoorsy looks without any real added ability. Think of the CrossGolf as rather like having a waterproof jacket on a hill walk, but without bothering to put your hiking boots on and Leatherman tool in your pocket. Even VW can't bring itself to call the chunky adornments functional, referring to the 'underbody guard' as stylised. No word on whether we'll get it here but we wouldn't suggest holding your breath.
