Mazda has revealed the first images of the facelifted version of its family saloon, the 6, which will premiere at the
Geneva motor show on 2nd March.
The update includes changes to the engine and gearbox range. Six choices of engines will be available, including a new 2.0-litre DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) petrol engine. Mazda says that the changes cut down on the emissions and fuel consumption of the 2.0-litre model it replaces.
To go along with the DISI petrol unit, the new 6's five-speed automatic gearbox has been fine-tuned. Alongside the new 2.0-litre petrol, there are changes to the 1.8 and 2.5 'MZR' engines. However, Mazda is also giving the 6 a 2.2-litre turbodiesel with three levels of power ranging from 127- to 178bhp.
Aesthetically, the 6 will showcase the new direction of Mazda styling, with freshly shaped headlamps and rear lights. As well as modifications to the body, the 6 also features altered chassis settings and several new safety features. These include a pivoting adaptive front lighting system and hill-launch assist.
The Mazda6 is available on sale in Europe this spring, with prices and specifications being confirmed closer to the date of sale.
