Skoda has announced that the Octavia range will be widened with two new engine offerings. These additions come in the form of a 1.2 TSI 105bhp petrol engine and a 1.6 TDI 105bhp diesel engine. Both of these newcomers have the option of being coupled with a double-clutch, seven-speed automatic DSG gearbox.
The 1.2 TSI can be purchased in both estate and hatchback guises, in either S or SE trim. This engine is the same as that fitted to the
Yeti crossover, so performance and emissions figures read similarly; the Octavia produces 134g/km of CO
2, has fuel economy of nearly 49.6mpg on the combined cycle and reaches 62mph in 10.8 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the 1.6 TDI, emissions undercut the 1.2-litre petrol model with 123g/km of carbon dioxide produced. Along with S and SE, the TDI engine can be had with Elegance trim.
In terms of prices, expect to pay between £13,835 and £19,460 for Skoda's latest extensions to the Octavia range. Entry-level is represented by the 1.2 TSI, with a regular six-speed manual gearbox in S trim. The range-topping 1.6 TDI model is offered in Elegance trim and with the seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Skoda customers can order the new engine options now and can expect to take delivery by the beginning of March.
