Volkswagen has added to its BlueMotion line-up with a Golf Plus model. The largely overlooked big Golf now boasts 65.7mpg capability and CO
2 emissions of 114g/km thanks to tweaked aerodynamics, regenerative brakes and a 1.6-litre 103bhp TDI engine fitted with a start/stop system.
Volkswagen's data suggests that around half of its Golf Plus drivers do just 8,000 miles a year, these buyers only having to fill up every five weeks thanks to the BlueMotion's frugality. Available in S or SE guise, the Golf Plus BlueMotion starts at £17,570 - or just £325 more than the standard car - and is available from October.
