The body is stiffer for improved ride and handling, refinement and a targeted five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
When?
Sales of the new Avensis start in January 2009. We'll bring you our driving impressions as soon as we get our hands on one; keep your eye on the

Verdict?
It is difficult to get excited about the Avensis, but it should be a competent performer. We won't know until we drive Toyota's latest offering whether it falls into the "competent but dull" category of past mainstream Toyotas or if it will prove more inspired.
