| Model update | Maserati Quattroporte |
Maserati has announced a raft of changes to update its highly successful Quattroporte luxury sports saloon. Along with styling and interior updates, the biggest news is the adoption of the
GranTurismo S's 4.7-litre V8 in the new Quattroporte S model.
Although detailed specifications have yet to be announced, it is known that the Quattroporte S will feature a different version of the sonorous V8, putting out 424bhp (versus 433bhp in the GranTurismo), while the regular Quattroporte retains a 395bhp 4.2-litre V8. Befitting the luxury car role of the Quattroporte, the only transmission available on the new model will be ZF's proven six-speed automatic.
Pininfarina has updated the exterior of the Quattroporte too, without drastically altering its unique appearance. The large, rounded grille with its new vertical slats is obviously inspired by the GranTurismo's, while LEDs feature on the restyled lights at the front and rear. The bumpers are new too, giving the Quattroporte a squarer stance, which is complemented by new side sill mouldings and redesigned mirrors.
The changes to the interior should be especially welcomed by buyers, as the infotainment system has undergone a much-needed revamp, as has the centre console in general. Further marking out the new model is the availability of new leather colours.
Unfortunately for
British Show visitors, the new Quattroporte will not make an appearance in London next month, with the first public outing likely to be at the
Paris Motor Show in September. The new Quattroporte and Quattroporte S will be on sale in the UK from October.
